SAIS China & HNC Graduation Reception

December 14, 2017

Students, staff, and faculty gathered to congratulate the 25 students completing their degrees in December who took part in either the Hopkins-Nanjing Center program or the SAIS-Tsinghua Dual Degree program.

Representing the HNC Certificate/Johns Hopkins MA graduates, Student Government representative Victoria Wu shared remarks and well-wishes for the new graduates as they prepare to begin their careers, noting that Chinese custom would credit their good fortune to be brought together as colleagues among a global community of billions. SAIS-Tsinghua Dual Degree graduate Jonathan Peyster emphasized the international experiences classmates brought to their programs and looked forward to the impact they would make in international relations and commerce. Associate Director of SAIS China Madelyn Ross thanked the many professors, staff, and administrators who helped create and manage these innovative degree opportunities for Johns Hopkins SAIS students. The event also marked the first time students of the two degree programs were being recognized together as one group, Ross noted.

As Assistant Director of Student Life Garrett Schlichte read the names of the graduates, they came forward to receive a small gift presented by the HNC Washington Office. Attendees enjoyed cake and refreshments as they celebrated their colleagues' achievements and the end of another busy fall term.
