SAIS Europe Celebrates the Class of 2017

SAIS Europe concluded the 2016-17 academic year on May 20th, celebrating 29 degree candidates from the Master of Arts in Global Risk (MAGR), Master of Arts in International Affairs (MAIA), and Master of International Public Policy Programs (MIPP). This year’s ceremony recognized the inaugural cohort of students in the MAGR program, a 13-month degree covering a broad array of concepts and tools in the social sciences necessary to undertake sophisticated political and economic risk analysis. Degree candidates were crowned with traditional Italian laurel wreaths and applauded by 166 classmates who will continue their Master of Arts studies in Washington, DC in the fall. 

The keynote address was delivered by Martin E. Fraenkel (B’83, ’84), President of S&P Global Platts in London and member of the SAIS Europe Advisory Council. Adjunct Professor of Middle East Studies Sanam Vakil MA '01, PhD '05 received the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association's Excellence in Teaching Award.
