SAIS Europe to host “The World Economy after Covid-19. A Conversation with President Romano Prodi” on June 23

Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies – Europe (SAIS Europe) will host “The World Economy after Covid-19. A Conversation with President Romano Prodi” on Tuesday, June 23. Romano Prodi is a Former President of the European Commission (1999-2004) and Former Prime Minister of Italy (1996-1998; 2006-2008).
 
This virtual dialogue is part of a wider program of events, conferences, and cultural activities to celebrate SAIS Europe’s 65th anniversary.
 
During this event, Johns Hopkins University President Ronald Daniels will announce the establishment of the Robert J. Abernethy Professorship at SAIS Europe. The Professorship supports teaching and research in global affairs with a view to developing democratic institutions and constitutional studies around the world.
 
The event will also include remarks by Eliot Cohen, dean of SAIS, Michael Plummer, director of SAIS Europe, and Robert J. Abernethy, Hopkins Emeritus Trustee, member of the SAIS Board of Advisors and SAIS Europe Advisory Council member.
 
During the event, moderated by Justin O. Frosini, adjunct professor of Constitutional Law, SAIS Europe and Director of the Center for Constitutional Studies and Democratic Development, Prof. Prodi will discuss the unprecedented challenges the Covid-19 pandemic has posed to the world, from the tragedy of hundreds of thousands of deaths to plummeting economies. The lecture will consider various future scenarios and policies that can be mobilized to heal the world’s economies in the wake of the pandemic.
