Secretary of State Powell to Give Keynote Address at JHU SAIS 60th Anniversary Celebration
Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will give the keynote address at the Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) 60th anniversary gala on Wednesday, 10/13 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Secretary Powell also will receive the Johns Hopkins University President's Medal from JHU President William R. Brody. This honor is extended by the university to individuals who have achieved unusual distinction.
This event is not open to the public. However, Secretary Powell's speech is open to the media for coverage.
The gala will be held at the Embassy of Italy, located at 3000 Whitehaven St. N.W., in Washington, D.C. (off of Massachusetts Ave.)
Pre-set time for broadcast journalists will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. All reporters covering the event must check in at the Italian Embassy no later than 6 p.m.
For security purposes, all reporters who plan to cover Secretary Powell's speech must register by no later than 10 a.m. on Wednesday, 10/13.
SAIS also will host a live Webcast of Secretary Powell's remarks available on the school's Web site at www.sais-jhu.edu at approximately 6:30 p.m. The audio and video of the speech also will be archived on the site for future access.
