Gaining a Competitive Advantage

Deepti Nagaraja
Master of International Public Policy

Deepti was attracted to Johns Hopkins SAIS’ renowned and experienced faculty and their ability to translate real-world experiences into classroom content. At the school, she wanted to learn more about global energy and environment issues. As such, she decided to concentrate in Energy, Resources and Environment and is currently studying a range of issues from natural gas markets to international water politics.

Prior to graduate school, Deepti worked in the private sector in healthcare for underserved populations in Philadelphia, and in public accounting at KPMG where her interest in impact investment was sparked. Her decision to apply to the school was also motivated by a desire to move into the public sector and learn more about impact investment.

At the school Deepti is a social chair for the MIPP program. She plans weekly happy hours, cultural events, and extracurricular activities to increase cohort cohesiveness and interaction outside of the academic environment. She currently interns at WeConnect where she manages a portfolio in Bangladesh focused on raising money from corporate entities to women owned businesses in developing countries. After graduating, Deepti hopes to remain in the Washington, DC area and is currently job-seeking with several multilateral and nonprofit organizations.
