Shubhangi was encouraged to attend Johns Hopkins SAIS because of its reputation as one of the leading International Relations programs in the country. The school’s commitment to International Economics and its strong language program helped her pick the graduate program. Shubhangi was also drawn to the school’s extensive range in classes, especially through the European and Eurasian Studies department and the prospect of spending a year studying at SAIS Europe in Bologna, Italy.

Before coming to the school, Shubhangi interned with the United Nations Population Fund, where she worked on issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights and South-South Cooperation. She also holds a degree in Political Science with a minor in French from Rutgers University.

Currently at the school, she works as a program assistant for the European and Eurasian Studies department where she helps organize and promote department events and  lecture series. Additionally, she took part in the International Law study trip to The Hague visiting the International Criminal Court and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, among other courts.

After graduation, Shubhangi hopes to join the U.S. Foreign Service or work for the U.S. State Department’s bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
