Prior to joining Johns Hopkins SAIS in 2009, she was coordinator of the Italian Language Program and lecturer in Italian at Stanford University (US); coordinator of the Italian Language Program and lecturer in Italian at the University of Wisconsin in Madison (US); language coordinator and instructor of Italian at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland). She earned her MA in Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Pavia (Italy) and her MPhil in Applied Linguistics at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland).
She is a certified ACTFL tester in Italian for both the OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview) and the WPT (Writing Proficiency Test). She translated from English into Italian one of the pilot projects of the ELP (European Language Portfolio). Her research interests include Achievement, Performance, and Proficiency testing in language assessment; development of the presentational skills in the language classroom; interrater reliability in language testing.
