About

Stefano Ungaro is Adjunct Professor at SAIS Europe and an Economic and Policy Analyst at the European Commission (DG JRC), on leave from Banque de France where he served as Senior Research Economist in the DG Banking Supervision. He joined Johns Hopkins SAIS as an adjunct faculty member in 2022, where he currently teaches "Digital Transformation" and previously taught "Cryptocurrency and Fintech." Prior to his current roles, Dr. Ungaro taught financial and monetary economics at University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, European Business School Paris, and Sciences Po Paris. His research and policy work spans banking regulation, the economics of financial innovation, international financial flows, and economic history. He holds a PhD in Economics from Paris School of Economics and an MSc in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University.
