SAIS Student Diversity Coalition Diaspora Dialogues: East and Southeast Asia

March 3, 2021 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join SDC and China Club for the latest installment of Diaspora Dialogues, focusing on the East Asia and Southeast Asia Diaspora. We hope to share the political dynamics of this growing community as well as spotlight individual perspectives on pursuing academics and careers in international affairs in relation to their Asian heritage. The event will begin with a keynote presentation by Thomas Wong, followed by a panel of current SAIS students from the East Asian and or Southeast Asian community.

Thomas Wong currently serves as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, and has been posted at the American Institute in Taiwan in Taipei, Guadalajara and consecutive tours in Washington in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs. Prior to joining the Foreign Service in 2010, Mr. Wong served in the U.S. Army.

Diaspora Dialogues is a SAIS Student Diversity Coalition series that illuminates the nuances of ethnicity, nationality, generational change, and the legacy of migration. While each event will focus on a different region, we strive to engage with our student body, sharing their experiences with the interplay of their heritage across sociocultural and political boundaries.
