We are very much looking forward to a virtual toast with our SAIS community!  As part of the festivities, I will be demonstrating how to make a world-class margarita cocktail (including a non-alcoholic version that is very tasty).  Here is the list of things you will want to have on hand, including some optional items that are not required but can help make the drink even better:

Things to have on hand:

Some sort of cocktail shaker (or you can use a large cup and a strainer if needed)

  • A jigger or shot glass to measure ingredients
  • Ice
  • 1-2 cocktail glasses
  • Lime juice (fresh squeezed or from concentrate)
  • Lemon juice (fresh squeezed or from concentrate)
  • Orange juice (fresh squeezed or from concentrate)
  • Orange Liqueur – I prefer Cointreau or Grand Marnier, but triple sec will work
  • Soda water

Optional items:

  • Blanco or Reposado Tequila (I am partial to Don Julio or Casamigos brand but anything that says “100% Agave” on the bottle is good; I would avoid the Cuervo Gold we drank in college – that is not real tequila!)
  • Agave Nectar (can get at any grocery store)
  • A fresh lime for garnish (have a knife and cutting board handy)
  • 2-3 Jalapeño peppers
  • Salt for the rim

See you Thursday!
