Reunion Weekend 2018

Keynote address by Jeremy Bowen at SAIS Europe Reunion Weekend

Upcoming Event:

Jour Fix (in English) – Alumni event in Vienna, Austria
Thursday 4 April 2024 at 5:30 pm

We will talk about Food Security in Europe with Dr. Bernhard Url, Head of European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in Parma, Italy. Bernhard Uhl has been Director of EFSA since 2014. We will discuss with him some current topics in which the agency has been involved in the past few months. These include the proposed ban on bisphenol A (BPA) in food contact materials, the renewed approval of the weed pesticide glyphosate and the discussion about the ban on so-called laboratory meat.

The event, organized by the Austrian Bologna Chapter, will take place at Presseclub Concordia (Bankgasse 8, 1010 Vienna).

To register, please contact Karl Krammer (B’79, ’80) [email protected].

Johns Hopkins SAIS alumni comprise the majority of broader Johns Hopkins alumni who reside in Germany (400 strong) and are organizationally part of the larger Johns Hopkins community.

The SAIS community is represented by the Verein der Freunde der Johns Hopkins University SAIS Europe e.V. which is a registered association in Germany, staffed by SAIS Europe alumni volunteers and funded entirely by alumni donations. Its mission is three-fold: (1.) to help SAISers maintain and expand their ties to each other and to the school, (2.) to organize events to promote joint discussion and dialogue and (3.) to financially support SAIS Europe by offering the possibility to make tax deductible contributions from Germany.

In 2009, members of the Verein voted on the establishment of a yearly fellowship to support the future generations of students from Germany at SAIS Europe. The fellowship is intended to be a collective effort funded through donations made by alumni. Since its inception, 40 students have benefitted from the German Alumni Fellowship.

The Verein is constantly looking for new members. If you want to take advantage from the many opportunities and possibilities to connect with other SAISers in Germany, you can become part of that association. You can contact the Verein here.
